Lovely venue with lots of space for pushchairs. Plenty of parking right outside.
Each week at my baby classes in the Exeter area, Whimple at the moment, a different story is brought to life through interactive sensory storytelling, messy play, music, movement and immersive exploration. It’s a space where books are no longer just read, but experienced — with babies and parents stepping right into the story together.
Alongside the magic and wonder of each session, everything is underpinned by a clear focus on baby development. The activities are designed to support early language and communication skills, while also stimulating all the senses to help build and strengthen vital brain connections during the most important stages of early growth. From listening and looking, to touching, moving and exploring, every experience is created with how babies actually learn in mind.
Just as importantly, these classes are as much for parents as they are for babies. They offer a chance to slow down, connect, and share something meaningful during those early months of motherhood, while also meeting other local families going through exactly the same stage of life. It’s a calm, friendly community where nobody minds if things are a little chaotic — in fact, that’s part of the joy.
Classes are split into two age groups so experiences can be tailored to your baby’s stage of development and curiosity.
Non Mobile Babies (0–10 months) is a gentle, nurturing class designed for babies from birth through to early crawling. It’s a space for sleepy newborn cuddles, early sensory exploration, watching, listening and beginning to engage with the world at their own pace.
Babies who are more mobile and mixed age class (8–36 months approx.) is designed for babies who are becoming more mobile and curious. This is where exploration really begins — moving, climbing, investigating, joining in with stories and discovering the joy of sensory play in a more active way. This group also works well for friends with differently aged babies.
Every class blends baby development, sensory learning, community and imagination — all wrapped up in a little bit of weekly magic for both baby and parent.
